e-NICs to be issued from September 01

Commissioner-General of Registration of Persons, Viyani Gunathilaka, announced that electronic National Identity Cards (NIC) would be issued to citizens from September 01.

According to the Commissioner-General, those who are being issued NICs for the first time will have the ability to obtain the new electronic NIC.

He further stated that a new format for the photograph of the electronic NIC would also be introduced soon.
