Sri Lanka confirms 10th death from coronavirus

Sri Lanka reported its tenth death from the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, a short while ago, confirmed Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

A female who had arrived from Kuwait and had been undergoing quarantine at the Trincomalee quarantine center has succumbed to the virus in this manner.

The 52-year-old deceased woman had been suffering from heart conditions prior to death, the Director-General said.

Accordingly the total number of deaths reported in the country due to COVID-19 has now reached 10.

Meanwhile, the total count of coronavirus cases reported in the country is at 1,162.

Currently, 458 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the country, as per the Epidemiology Unit.

A total of 695 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital upon complete recovery from the illness.
