Sri Lanka confirms 11th COVID-19 death

Sri Lanka has reported the 11th death from the COVID-19 infection, the Ministry of Health confirmed a short while ago.

The deceased is said to be a 45-year-old male who had arrived in the country from Kuwait.

He had been treated for the virus at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Homagama Hospital where he succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, the total count of coronavirus cases reported in the country is at 1,633.

Currently, 822 active cases are under medical care at selected hospitals across the country, as per the Epidemiology Unit.

A total of 801 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital upon complete recovery from the illness.
