At least 27 injured in head-on bus collision at Kajugama

Two buses fatally collided at Kajugama in Pasyala early this morning (May 05), leaving at least 27 people injured.

According to the police, a privately-owned bus travelling from Kandy to Negombo had collided head-on with an SLTB bus plying from Colombo to Muthur.

The police said wounded individuals, including the drivers of the two buses, were rushed to the hospital for medical care.

A total of 23 were admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital while the remaining four were admitted to the Warakapola Hospital. However, six people who sustained minor injuries have been discharged from the Wathupitiwala Hospital.

Following the accident, vehicular movement on the Colombo-Kandy main road was disrupted at Kajugama.

Negombo Police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
