A total of 28 leaders who held top posts in the Joint Trade Union Alliance at the Katunayake Airport have been sent on compulsory leave on the orders of the chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Limited (AASL) Chaminda Athula Galketiya.

The trade union leaders are accused of sending letters to airlines that have flight connections with Sri Lanka, in an attempt to disrupt all air services.

Emphasizing that they have no legal or moral rights to take such measures, the AASL chairman said a formal investigation would be conducted on the matter.

The union leaders have been barred from entering any premises of the AASL until the investigation is completed.
