SLFP removes Amaraweera, Lasantha and Duminda from party positions

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has removed Duminda Dissanayake, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Mahinda Amaraweera from their respective positions in the party, Ada Derana reporter said.

 

Accordingly, Dissanayake was stripped of his post as the National Organiser, Alagiyawanna as the Treasurer and Amaraweera as the Senior Vice President.

 

The Chairman of SLFP, former President Maithripala Sirisena summoned all members of the party to Colombo for a pivotal meeting today (30).

 

On Monday (25), political sources revealed that the party’s Central Committee members, Executive Committee members, Constituency and District Organizers of the SLFP and all the officials of the affiliated organizations of the party have been called to the party headquarters in order to reach certain crucial decisions.

 

Against this backdrop, a new alliance led by the SLFP will be formed in the near future and it is reported that this process has reached the final stage.


UPDATE: SLFP has appointed a new Senior Vice President, a Treasurer and a National Organizer after MPs Mahinda Amaraweera, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Duminda Dissanayake were stripped of their respective party positions on Saturday (30).

 

Thereby, SLFP’s Mahiyanganaya Constituency Organizer K. P. Gunawardena was appointed to the post of National Organizer, former Western Provincial Minister Hector Bethmage as the Treasurer and former Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake as the Senior Vice President.
