Women's T20 World Cup: New Zealand elect to bat against Sri Lanka in Southampton

New Zealand Women won the toss and elected to bat first against Sri Lanka Women in the seventh game of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Southampton.

 

New Zealand lost their opening game of the World Cup against West Indies while Sri Lanka also lost to England by 87 runs in the tournament opener.

 

New Zealand named an unchanged line-up for the game while Sri Lanka made three changes to the playing XI.

 

At the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu said she would have bowled first had she won the toss.

 

She stressed on the importance of adapting to different conditions in order to progress further in this year’s World Cup in England.
