West Indies maintained their unbeaten run in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in a low-scoring encounter at the County Ground in Bristol a short while ago.

Chasing a modest target of 99, the Caribbean team sail past the winning line after losing half their side in 16.1 overs despite a spirited effort from Sri Lanka’s bowlers.

Veteran all-rounder Stafanie Taylor anchored the chase with an unbeaten 27 off 25 deliveries, striking one four and one six.

She was supported by captain Hayley Matthews, who scored 17, while Deandra Dottin contributed 12. Jannillea Glasgow remained unbeaten on 10 from 15 balls, hitting a boundary to help steer her side home.

Kavisha Dilhari was the standout performer with the ball for Sri Lanka, claiming 2/22 from her four overs. Nimasha Meepage and skipper Chamari Athapaththu chipped in with one wicket each.

Earlier, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 98 in 19.4 overs, courtesy of a disciplined bowling display led by Matthews.

Middle-order batter Nilakshika Silva top-scored with 30 off 26 deliveries, including three fours, despite wickets falling regularly around her. Dilhari added 21 from 20 balls with three boundaries, while Imesha Dulani and Kawya Kavindi made 17 runs each.

No other Sri Lankan batter managed to reach double figures.

Openers Vishmi Gunaratne and Athapaththu were dismissed for one and two respectively, while Harshitha Samarawickrama and wicketkeeper-batter Kaushini Nuthyangana both departed without scoring.

Sugandika Kumari and Mithali Ayodhya contributed two and three runs respectively.

For West Indies, Matthews starred with figures of 3/15 in her four overs. Karishma Ramharack picked up two wickets, while Chinelle Henry, Afy Fletcher, Aaliyah Alleyne and Ashmini Munisar claimed one wicket apiece.
