Sri Lanka has recorded 88,088 dengue cases so far in 2026, with 63 deaths reported due to the disease, according to the latest statistics released by the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

The report revealed that the country’s dengue case fatality rate stands at 0.07% this year.

Dengue infections have continued to increase, with 2,739 cases reported in August so far. The highest monthly figure recorded this year was in July, when 29,975 dengue cases were reported across the country.

The Gampaha District has been identified as the worst-affected district, accounting for 18,739 dengue cases. The Colombo District recorded the second-highest number of infections, with 17,490 cases reported.

Health authorities have urged the public to take immediate preventive measures to control the spread of dengue, including the removal of mosquito breeding grounds and maintaining clean surroundings.

The National Dengue Control Unit continues to monitor the dengue situation and has called for increased public cooperation to reduce the spread of the disease, particularly during periods of increased mosquito activity.
