Two dead, 4 injured following tense situation at Kuruwita Prison

At least two persons are reported dead while another four individuals have been injured and admitted to hospital following the tense situation that arose at the Kuruwita Prison.
A prison spokesperson had earlier stated that the unrest first broke out last night (6), and measures were taken to bring the situation under control.
However, tensions flared up again among inmates this morning (07), prompting prison officials to deploy tear gas to control the tense situation at the prison.
It has also been reported that a group of inmates caused damage to the prison hospital during the unrest.
