The Police Headquarters has taken steps to transfer several high-ranking police officers, subject to the approval of the National Police Commission.

 

Accordingly, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Sampath Kumara has been transferred from the Special Bureau to the Eastern Province.

 

Meanwhile, SDIG Kithsiri Jayalath, who served as the Senior DIG in charge of the Southern Province, has been appointed as the Senior DIG in charge of the Sabaragamuwa Province.

 

In addition, SDIG Waruna Jayasundara has been assigned to oversee the position of Director of Training and Advanced Training, in addition to his existing responsibilities at the Children and Women’s Bureau.

 

Furthermore, SDIG K.P. Karunaratne, who was serving in charge of Special Protection Division, has been transferred to the post of Senior DIG in charge of the Northern Province.

 

SDIG Buddhika Siriwardena, who was previously in charge of the Northern Province, has been transferred as the Senior DIG in charge of the Southern Province.

 

The Police Headquarters has also transferred six Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).

 

Accordingly, ASP Namal Perera, who served as the Director of the Galle District Crimes Division, has also reportedly been transferred to the Police Field Force.
