23-year-old arrested over attempted shooting in Dehiwala

A 23-year-old man suspected of acting as the shooter in an attempted murder involving a firearm in the Dehiwala area has been arrested.
The suspect was arrested, yesterday (10), by a team of officers from the Special Task Force Camp Jayawardenapura in the Habarakada area of the Athurugiriya Police Division.
Police said the suspect was allegedly involved in the attempted shooting of an individual in the Kadawatha Road area of the Dehiwala Police Division on August 4, 2026.
Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Dehiwala Police Station for further investigations.
The suspect has been identified as a resident of Homagama, according to the police.
Dehiwala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
