
An accomplice of the underworld figure known as “Gagana,” who is believed to be operating from overseas, has been arrested in Homagama with a consignment of narcotics, police said.
The Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested the suspect, who is alleged to have been responsible for managing the local drug distribution network of drug trafficker Gagana.
According to the STF, the raid was conducted along High Level Road in Homagama based on intelligence received by officers attached to its Special Operations Division.
During the operation, officers seized more than 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and 800 narcotics pills from the suspect’s possession.
The arrested suspect, a 44-year-old resident of Homagama.
The STF stated that the suspect and the seized narcotics were handed over to the Homagama Police for further investigations and legal proceedings.
