Suspect arrested over alleged Rs. 25 million housing construction scam
A man has been arrested by the Mirihana Special Investigations Unit for allegedly defrauding large sums of money from individuals by claiming through social media that he provided house construction services.
Police said the suspect had allegedly defrauded victims of more than Rs. 25 million through the scheme.
The suspect reportedly used social media platforms to advertise house construction services and collected money from individuals before allegedly carrying out the fraud.
The Mirihana Special Investigations Unit said it had received 15 complaints against the suspect in connection with the alleged scam.
Police are conducting further investigations into the case.
