Sri Lanka Police have arrested a total of 1,093 foreign nationals so far this year in connection with investigations into cybercrimes and financial fraud carried out in Sri Lanka, Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler said.
Speaking at a media briefing held today (13) to raise awareness of the ‘A Nation United’ national anti-drug programme, he said the arrests were made during 24 raids conducted so far this year.
He said that in comparison only 573 foreign nationals were arrested in 26 incidents in 2024, while 26 foreign nationals were arrested in two incidents in 2025.
ASP Wootler further stated that necessary measures have been taken to deport all the arrested foreign nationals.
