Showers expected in parts of the island today
Showers will occur at times in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (15), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several spells of showers may occur in Western and North-Western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m, the Met. Department added.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the North-Central, North Western, Central and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee District.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
