Grama Niladhari officers have decided to end the trade union action launched over several demands, following discussions held today (17) with Minister of Public Administration Professor Chandana Abeyratne and the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration.
Representatives of the Grama Niladhari officers’ unions said President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also joined the discussions by telephone and assured them that steps would be taken to address their demands through the upcoming Budget.
Following the discussions, the unions decided to call off the ongoing trade union action.
The unions further stated that all Grama Niladhari officers would resume their normal duties on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, following the conclusion of the trade union action today.
