
Kankanamage Dimuthu Chathuranga Perera, alias “Summitpura Chathu,” who was arrested in Oman and brought to Sri Lanka early this morning (18), was taken to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) for further investigation.
Dimuthu Chathuranga Perera, also known as “Modara Chathu” or “Summitpura Chathu,” is an alleged organized crime gang member who was apprehended in Oman by a team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The 38-year-old resident of Summitpura, Modara, Colombo 15, had fled to Oman on March 22, 2025, using a forged passport.
He had been identified as one of the suspects in the murder of ‘Ganemulla Sanjeewa’ and was considered a key individual wanted in connection with several crimes committed in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, after being brought from Muscat, Oman, to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, he was escorted to the Colombo Crimes Division under tight security for further interrogation.
