Sri Lanka Police has announced that the issuance of Police Clearance Certificates has been temporarily suspended due to a computer system breakdown affecting the database system used by Police Headquarters.
Police Clearance Certificates are issued through the Clearance Branch located on the 17th Floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla. The application processing, report verification, and certificate printing functions are carried out through an automated database system.
According to Police Headquarters, the system has been inactive since 12:50 p.m. yesterday (20).
The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka has been informed of the issue, and steps are currently being taken to restore the system.
Accordingly, Police Headquarters has requested the public to refrain from submitting applications for Police Clearance Certificates until the database system is fully restored.
The Police Media Division further stated that applications can be submitted once the system becomes operational again.
