
Ten police personnel attached to the Angulana Police Station have been commended by Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, for their role in rescuing 11 naval personnel following an incident involving the Navy’s Fast Attack Craft P 4447 off the coast of Angulana.
Letters of commendation were presented to the police personnel at a ceremony held at Navy Headquarters today (21), the Sri Lanka Navy said.
Among those commended were Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Angulana Division Samantha Wijesekara and Officer-in-Charge of the Angulana Police Station, Chief Inspector Samantha Bandara.
The police personnel were recognized for their prompt response and assistance during the rescue operation, which they carried out beyond the call of duty.
The Navy stated that their actions contributed to the safe rescue of all 11 naval personnel aboard the distressed vessel.
