Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, the Department of Meteorology stated.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island, the Met. Department said.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the Central hills, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in Mannar, Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale Districts, it added.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
