Man arrested for verbally abusing police officers on duty at Kandy Dalada Perahera
An individual has been arrested for allegedly verbally abusing several police officers and obstructing them while they were performing duties related to the Kandy Esala Perahera, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred this morning (23) near the main entrance to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, where police officers had been deployed for security duties.
The suspect allegedly used abusive language against the officers and behaved in a disorderly manner, obstructing them from carrying out their official duties.
Police subsequently arrested the suspect in connection with the incident.
Legal action is expected to be taken against the suspect, police added.
