Suresh Sallay’s PTA Detention Challenge: Court to announce order on October 7
The Court of Appeal will announce on October 7 whether notices should be issued on the intervening petitions filed in connection with a petition submitted by former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay.
Major General Suresh Sallay has challenged his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The Court of Appeal made the announcement after considering the intervening petitions filed in relation to Sallay’s petition.
A total of 12 parties, including Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera and several Buddhist monks, as well as Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, have filed intervening petitions in the case.
