Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando says the opportunity has now arisen to implement the “social protection” proposals outlined in the government’s policy statement.
Minister Fernando emphasized that the cooperation of all stakeholders will be essential to successfully implement the proposals.
The Minister made these remarks while attending the technical presentation of the National Action Plan on Social Care for the next 10 years.
The programme is being implemented under the supervision of the International Labour Organization (ILO), with several ministries, including those responsible for labour, women and children’s affairs, working together on the initiative.
ILO Country Director for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Joanie Simpson and other officials were also present at the event.
