Hand grenade found near SJB MP Kavinda Jayawardhana’s residence
A foreign-made hand grenade has been found in the Delgaha Ara Canal, which flows behind the residence of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Dr. Kavinda Jayawardhana in Weligampitiya, Ja-Ela.
The hand grenade was reportedly discovered at around 11:30 a.m. today (01) while workers from the Ja-Ela Urban Council were cleaning the canal.
After the workers informed the Kandana Police of the discovery, police officers arrived at the scene and commenced investigations.
Following preliminary investigations, officers from the Police Special Task Force (STF) Bomb Disposal Squad removed the hand grenade from the location for safe disposal.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Kandana Police.
