Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis has climbed into the top 10 of the latest ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings, after some impressive returns in the recent India series.

Mendis moved up two places to 10th in the Test batting rankings following his composed half-century in the second innings against India in Colombo. The steady performance further underlined his growing importance to Sri Lanka's Test batting line-up.

There were also significant gains for several other Sri Lankan players. Fast bowler Asitha Fernando climbed four places to 11th in the Test Bowling Rankings after claiming four wickets in Sri Lanka's second Test against India in Colombo.

Young batter Sonal Dinusha was among the week's biggest movers, surging 29 places to 25th in the Test batting rankings. His rapid rise comes as the promising left-hander continues to make an impression in the international arena.

Sri Lanka's latest gains come amid strong performances in the ongoing Test series against India, with the country's emerging players increasingly making their presence felt in the ICC rankings.

At the top of the Test batting rankings, England's Harry Brook retained the No. 1 position, while Australia's Steve Smith moved into second and England's Joe Root slipped to third.

Australia's Mitchell Starc remains the world's No. 1 Test bowler, while England's Ollie Robinson made headlines by rising six places to fifth after a superb series against Pakistan.
