Advisory issued for severe lightning
Mobitel inner 1278

The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning in the North-Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Western and North-Central Provinces, as well as the Galle, Matara and Mannar districts.

Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in these areas.

Temporary, localised strong winds may also occur during thundershowers, the Department of Meteorology added.

The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimise potential damage caused by lightning activity.
