75th ‘Battle of the Golds’ ends in draw

The 75th ‘Battle of the Golds’, the annual school cricket encounter between Prince of Wales College and St. Sebastian’s College, ended in a draw on Sunday (March 2).

The match was played over three days, from February 28 to March 2, at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.

Batting first, Prince of Wales College were all out in their first innings, scoring 161 runs.

In response, St. Sebastian’s College was bowled out for 208 runs in their first innings.

Prince of Wales College resumed their second innings, trailing by 47 runs. 

By the end of the third day of the match, they had scored 157 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

This is the 66th time that the ‘Battle of the Golds,’ which began in 1933, has ended in a draw.
