OpenAI unveiled plans on Thursday to build a massive computing complex in the United Arab Emirates, The New York Times reported.
Abu Dhabi will host the world’s largest AI data centre under a landmark deal announced Thursday, marking the first international rollout of OpenAI’s advanced infrastructure platform, Stargate, according to Gulf News.
Stargate UAE will be located in the newly established UAE–US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi — revealed last week in the presence of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Donald Trump, President of the United States.
“A global leader in AI technology”
This project is a crucial step in the UAE’s effort to become a global leader in AI technology, leveraging the country’s strategic position and innovation drive to make advanced AI more accessible across the globe.
“The facility will provide best-in-class infrastructure, nation-scale compute, and low latency inferencing to deliver AI that will meet the demands of an increasingly intelligent world. The first 200-megawatt AI cluster is expected to go live in 2026.”
G42 is also expected to contribute money to the construction of OpenAI data centers in the United States, the New York Times cited OpenAI as saying.
