‘Supernatural’ Star Jared Padalecki Arrested Outside Texas Bar

Actor Jared Padalecki from The CW’s long-running Supernatural has reportedly been arrested following an incident at a bar in Austin, Texas. This news may come as a shock to fans who follow the Supernatural star’s work as the character of Sam Winchester who Padalecki plays is almost always the steadfast voice of reason opposite his more reactive and feisty partner-in-crime brother, played by Jensen Ackles.
Padalecki has been in the acting game for some time now, gaining popularity with the teen crowd back in the early 2000’s when he starred as Dean Forrester, Rory Gilmore’s off and on again beau, on Gilmore Girls. From there he went on to star in Supernatural, The CW’s longest running show. It has been on the air for a whopping 15 seasons, which is fairly unheard of in the fantasy drama television genre. Supernatural will finally end its run this year, but Padalecki has already secured his next gig as the star of upcoming Walker Texas Ranger reboot - assuming, of course, this recent development doesn’t change that.
According to TMZ, Padalecki was “busted by the cops” early Sunday morning outside of a lounge in Austin, Texas called Stereotype. Per his booking sheet, the star is facing two counts of assault and one count of public intoxication. Eyewitnesses on the scene told TMZ that Padalecki allegedly struck a bartender in the face inside the establishment and was taken outside by a friend to “calm down.” Footage taken at the scene show him putting someone in a headlock on the sidewalk outside of the bar.
TMZ was also told that Padalecki had an altercation with the bar’s general manager and allegedly struck him the face as well. He was restrained by the police, but “not before pulling out what we’re told was a wad of cash, and allegedly flashing it to the officers.” Jared is said to be a regular at Stereotype, with some reports speculating as to whether he might even be a co-owner of the bar as it is known both Padalecki and as his Supernatural co-star Ackles own businesses in the Austin area. Padalecki’s bond was set at $15,000 — $5 grand per charge. It is currently unknown as to whether he has been released.
With Supernatural currently wrapping up its last season, it remains to be seen if Padalecki’s legal troubles will affect his television career. His recently announced starring role in Walker, the remake of the 1990s Chuck Norris series, might be what it’s in more jeopardy (if any) since Supernatural is just about finished. And it’s hard to imagine the long-running production wanting to lose their star this close to the big finale. Still, more news about Padelecki’s arrest and charges are sure to come to light soon, at which point, just what the future holds for him - as well as Supernatural’s final season and Walker - will be revealed.
