Firecrackers mistaken for explosion at Majeed’s residence

A minor explosion was reported near the home of SLMC Deputy Leader Abdul Majeed in Kalmunai at about 1.45 a.m. this morning (September 26), Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated.

Initial reports indicated that a petrol bomb had been thrown into the residence of the SLMC Deputy Leader.

However, Police stated that the reported incident was caused by a bunch of firecrackers which had been thrown into the residence by an unknown group.

No one was reported injured in the incident.

The Kalmunai police will conduct further inquiries.
