Another oil leak reported

November 5, 2012   11:18 am

A leak has been reported from an oil pipe supplying oil from the Colombo Harbour to the Kolonnawa Oil Refinery. The leak has reportedly occurred in a location behind the paddy storage complex in Vihara Mawatha, Meetotamulla.

Residents in the area say oil has been leaking from the pipe since around 8.00pm last night.

Spokesman of the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited, Nissanka Jayawardena stated that repairs have already begun to seal a small fracture in the pipeline.

Two oil leaks had occurred last month near the Orugodawatta flyover and in Ingurukade Junction in Mahawatta.
