Pepiliyana shop attacked over ‘love affair’ - police

March 29, 2013   01:27 pm

Police today said that the reason behind the tense situation in Pepiliyana last night was a personal dispute.

A love affair between a youth and an underage girl had been the cause for the attack on the clothing store in Pepiliyana, police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena said.

A violent mob had attacked and pelted stones at a popular clothing store in Pepiliyana last night causing damages to the shop while one person reportedly injured in the incident.

The situation was brought under control by the police while a special police team has commenced investigations into the attack.

Police, however, said no arrests have been made so far regarding the incident.
