Largest haul of heroin in Central Province seized

The Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) have seized 59 kilograms of heroin, from Katugastota, Kandy, which is said to be the biggest ever heroin haul detected in the central province.

Four individuals including a woman who were apprehended during the raid are currently being interrogated by the PNB, a senior police officer told Ada Derana.

The police interrogations have been initiated after obtaining detention orders through the Kandy Magistrate’s Court, this morning, he added. 

The raid was carried out in the late hours of last night, following a tipoff by the PNB, few weeks back. The PNB have too seized a cab and another vehicle during the raid.

The suspects will be produced in the Kandy Magistrate’s Court following the integration process.
