In a shocking incident in Beruwala, a one and half year old infant was allegedly killed by her father by dashing the child on a rock, this morning.

The 29-year old father who is a fiber worker has been apprehended by the Beruwala police. The infant was pronounced dead by doctors upon her admission to the Nagoda General Hospital.

A senior police officer of the Beruwala police told Ada Derana that the parents of the infant were living apart since last January. “The infant had been living with her mother. However, the father had often visited the child on some Sundays,” he added.

The police have uncovered information that the child was killed following a family dispute between the parents. The suspect will be produced in the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.
