VIDEO: ‘Derane Daruwo’ exceeds expectations

However, TV Derana received over 3,500 pledges via phone calls and online applications, within just 9 hours, each promising to provide financial assistance to a student in desperate need of help to peruse their education. 

Each donation will be made as Rs 1,500 per month for a student for a period of 5 years (Rs 1,500 X 12 X 5), which will amount to Rs 90,000 at the conclusion of the scholarship period. 

Pledges were received during a nine-hour in-depth discussion involving experts, artists and other leading figures which was telecasted live (from 10.00am to 7.00pm) on TV Derana yesterday.
