VIDEO: Protesting over ‘religious rites’...

May 26, 2013

The ‘Sinhala Ravaya’ Buddhist organization today (26) marched from Borella to Temple Trees in Kollupitiya, demanding that the final rites of Ven. Bowatte Indrarathana Thera be performed in Colombo instead of in Kahawatta, Ratnapura. However, it has been reported that the remains of the Buddhist monk, who committed self-immolation on Friday protesting against cattle slaughter, has been transported to his home town of Kahawatta. The protest march was also aimed at demanding the government to ban cattle slaughter in Sri Lanka and to pass the Anti-Conversion Legislation. (Pic by Sanjeewa Lasantha)
