Resident near the Vihara junction in Dambulla engaged in a demonstration today (February 25) demanding authorities to remove the moonshine racket operated by three brothers in the area. The Dambulla Mayor, Jaliya Opatha and the police arrived at the scene and requested the protesting residents one month to meet their demand. UPFA Municipal Councillor H.M. Rupasinghe claimed that the police were involved in taking money from the racket, an Ada Derana correspondent reported. (Pics by Kanchana Kumara Ariyadasa)
