Manusath Derana completes ‘One Million Trees’ project…

The “One Million Trees” project, initiated by Manusath Derana Nature Force for the celebration of the 13th anniversary of TV Derana, was successfully completed today (15) with the final tree saplings planted along 17km stretch of road from the historic Ridi Viharaya (‘Silver Temple’) to Mallawapitiya in Kurunegala. The millionth tree was symbolically planted by the temple tusker ‘Sindu’.
The youth committee of the temple had organized the event under the instructions of Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Buddharakkhitha Mahanayake Thero. A number schools and state institutions in Kurunegala District also joined today’s event.
TV Derana, setting an example as a television channel, decided to implement massive a tree planting campaign, themed ‘Magen Gasak Mavu Deranata’ (‘A tree for Mother Earth from Me’), in celebration of the channel’s 13th anniversary which was celebrated last year.
