Several foreign envoys called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on separate occasions yesterday (02).
Accordingly, the Ambassador for the Republic of Italy in Sri Lanka Rita Giuliana Mannella, a delegation of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Sri Lanka headed by its Ambassador Trine Jøranli Eskedal called on the President at the Presidential Secretariat.
Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz, Japanese Ambassador Akira Sugiyama and Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rita Giuliana Mannella met with the Premier at the Temple Trees, last morning.
Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on the President and the Prime Minister later in the day.
During his meeting with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the visiting foreign minister expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in further strengthening bilateral relations with Sri Lanka especially in the areas of economic development, trade, security cooperation, and regional cooperation.
Qureshi hand-delivered a letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa containing an invitation from the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, for Prime Minister Rajapaksa to visit Pakistan to enhance ongoing bilateral relations. Prime Minister Rajapaksa accepted the invitation, as reported by the media unit of the Prime Minister.
