Former Sri Lanka Air Force Commander, Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke has been appointed as the Governor of the Western Province.

He was sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat, today (24), the PMD said.

Roshan Goonetileke has previously served as the 12th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and the Chief of Defence Staff.

Goonetileke was conferred the highest honorary Air Force rank ‘Marshal of the Sri Lanka Air Force’ in 2019 by then-President Maithripala Sirisena.

He will be taking over from Dr. Seetha Arambepola, who resigned from her post as the governor of Western Province last week as she had been named in the national list of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
