March 30, 2020

Another event of the Navy’s disinfection programmes being carried out to curb further spread of novel coronavirus in the island was held in several populous locations in Puttalam on 29th March 2020.

While assisting the coordinated efforts of the government to control the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Navy carried out this sterilization programme at Regional Office of Wildlife Conservation, Divisional Secretariat and the village of Kadumayankulam in Puttalam. In response to a request made by the Puttalam Police, the Navy’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit, under the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal de Silva, conducted the series of disinfection programmes at above places.

Accordingly, sterilization of those premises was conducted by the CBRN Unit in accordance with proper procedures.
