New army commander assumes duties...

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage assumed duties as the new Commander of Sri Lanka Army on Wednesday (June 01). He received his official letter of appointment as the 24th Army Commander from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Colombo on May 31. After assuming duties in his new position, Vikum Liyanage, the most senior officer in the Army was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General.
