Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka, before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya today (July 21). The swearing-in took place at the parliament complex. The 225-member parliament voted Wickremesinghe in for the presidency in a secret ballot held yesterday. He secured a total of 134 votes cast by 223 members.
