Sri Lanka Police Headquarters announced that steps will be taken today (29) to destroy over 1,208 kilograms of drugs following the completion of court proceedings in relation to them.

A spokesperson for the Police Headquarters stated that the destroying of the seized drugs would take place using a high-powered drug incinerator at the Wanathawilluwa Lactose Estate.

The drugs slated for destruction include 614 kg and 36 g of ‘Ice’ (Crystal methamphetamine), 13 kg and 686 g of heroin, and 581 kg and 34 g of ketamine.

The confiscated drugs are to be transferred this morning to officials from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at the Colombo High Court at 9:30 a.m. They will then be transported to the Wanathawilluwa Lactose Estate, where they will be incinerated.

The Police Headquarters emphasized that the destruction process is being carried out under the supervision of the Puttalam Magistrate, along with representatives from the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB), a government analyst, and officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau.
