A new government will be formed after he swears in for the second term on November 19. Following the formation of the government, the budget for 2011 will be forwarded to Parliament, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today (Oct. 11).
Once a new government is formed its warmth should be felt by the people. The war is over now and the next step will be to develop the country, President Rajapaksa said while addressing trade union representatives at Temple Trees today.
The background to provide a better life to the people is being set up even now, like producing electricity to help progress of development. We have planned to obtain electricity for another 20 years and need not pay others for electricity for years ahead, said President Rajapaksa.
“We cannot plan haphazardly for one or two years. We have a clear plan and we are heading towards it. To end the journey successfully we need your cooperation,” the President reminded the trade union representatives.
“While believing that the government service should be strengthened, we also believe that they should provide an efficient service to the public. There are efficient and committed officers in the government service. The maximum funds should be utilized for the benefit of the masses.
“We have seen a lot of work done by these officials when I visit the outstations. However, those who work are the most found fault with. You have to work to make mistakes, or else any person can just exist without working and bear no fault,” pointed President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He added that if all cooperate with the government in forging ahead with the development, all the goals could be reached with ease.
