Youth arrested with live bullet at President Ranil’s Batticaloa rally

Police has arrested a person who was in attendance at a public rally of incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe today (08) in the Santhiveli area of Batticaloa, for the possession of a live bullet.

The live bullet, which is used in the weapon known as ‘84S’, was found inside the wallet of the arrested 24-year-old male, during a security screening, police said.

However, the youth had claimed that he picked up the bullet which was found on a road around 2 years ago.

Police said that the arrested suspect will be produced before the court tomorrow (08).
