Heavy showers of 150 mm expected in several provinces

The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Hambantota District.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere on the island during the evening or night.
Heavy showers of about 150 mm are likely at some places in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces, it said.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
