Woman arrested for fraudulently collecting millions

Anuradhapura Police have arrested a female who had fraudulently collected over Rs.10 million from several people by deceiving them and promising them employment in foreign countries.

 

 

The suspect and her driver were arrested at a tourist hotel in the Anuradhapura area over information received by the police last night (30 October), Anuradhapura Police said.

 

 

The female, a resident of Thangalla, had allegedly been committing these frauds for a long period of time at a residence situated at Ragama, police revealed.

 

 

It has been reported that she has allegedly extorted money from over 40 people, some Rs.600, 000 from each person, promising to provide them with employment in European countries.

 

 

Police officials stated that at the time of the arrest the suspect had had in her possession gold jewelry worth over Rs.500, 000 and cash amounting to Rs.32, 000.
