Lanka to oppose Thamilselvan statue in France

Sri Lanka will oppose the erection of a statue of former LTTE political wing leader S.P. Tamilchelvan in France, Spokesman for the External Affairs Ministry Bandula Jayasekara told Ada Derana a short while ago.

 

Jayasekara added that discussions are underway between the French government and officials regarding the matter. We took immediate steps as soon as the External Affairs was notified of the matter, he added. Jayasekara stated that the French government’s stand on the issue is yet to be conveyed.
